| Bio: | Character Requested: Kon-El Source: DC Comics Your Name or Handle: Kris AIM: zachsmithpeabody Canon History for the Character: The story of Superboy begins with Lex Luthor. Luthor always wanted superpowers of his own, so he secretly funded the genetic research organization Cadmus Labs. One of the many projects within Cadmus was Project 13, a test to see if human and Kryptonian DNA could be spliced together. The answer was yes, and Luthor planned to grow himself his own half-human superman that would be loyal to Luthor. Luthor spliced his own DNA with that of Superman to engineer Project 13, but before the clone could reach its accelerated maturity, an anti-cloning broke into the Cadmus facilities and freed Project 13. The Kid’s powers were different than Superman’s however. Since the scientists at Cadmus weren’t sure if Superman’s powers would be passed on genetically, they modified a few of the human genes to give the clone a power called Tactile Telekinesis. This allowed The Kid to mimic many of Superman’s powers, including flight, super strength, enhanced durability and super speed. It also gave The Kid the added ability to take apart objects by forcing his telekinetic force field into the object then expanding it outward. Superman was, at the time, believed to be dead. The clone took to calling himself Superman, even though everyone around him just called him “The Kid”. He was one of four “Supermen” who had appeared in the days after the Man of Steel’s death. The Kid helped stop the two replacement supermen who went crazy and, when Superman returned from the dead, he allowed the Kid to keep wearing the “S” shield under the name “Superboy”. Superboy took to defending the island of Hawaii, keeping it safe for girls to run around in bikinis. A half a year later, Superman and the Kid had another adventure together, where Superman taught the Kid a little about Krypton. He gave Superboy his first “real” name, the Kryptonian name Kon-El. When Kon was 5 months out of the cloning tube he met his future best friends Robin and Impulse. Together they would form the team Young Justice. Eventually the kids of Young Justice grew up enough to join the Teen Titans. This transition was a rough time for Kon; he found out that Superman had a secret identity as Clark Kent and that Superman didn’t trust him enough to tell him. Superman apologized and promised to take a bigger role in being a mentor to Kon, but all this boiled down to was making Kon move to Smallville, live with Clark’s parents, attend Clark’s high school, and force Kon to live with his own secret identity (something he’d never had to do). Kon also found out that Lex Luthor was his other genetic donor and that he was essentially the son of the greatest hero AND the greatest villain in the world, with the potential to turn out either way. He started developing his Kryptonian powers at this time too. Now Kon lives with the stress that his girlfriend’s mentor hates him and can throw him across San Francisco harbor without messing up her shiny golden tiara, the annoyance of his mentor forcing him to be, well, his clone, and the fear that Superman might find out that Kon is half Luthor and abandon him. Why do you want to play this character? I want to play Kon because he’s someone I’ve never played before. He’s a great character and due to his outgoing personality, would have lots of opportunities for character relations. From where in the canon timeline is your character being pulled? From midway in Teen Titans V3. In other words, he knows that Lex Luthor is his other biological donor, but the events of Outsiders/Teen Titans – The Insiders haven’t happened yet. Oh.
